The Latina/o Studies Program, Latina/o Student Success Office, and the Latino Living Center congratulate Julia Montejo ('17), the 2016 recipient of the Marti Dense Student Leadership Award. This annual award recognizes an exceptional student leader, whose winning essay is presented at the annual Unity Dinner in October. Julia, a Spanish major with minors in Science and Technology Studies, Anthropology, and Latin American Studies, is the Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion for the Cornell Student Assembly, holds a chair in the Student Assembly Committee, and is an Arts and Sciences Ambassador. She is also a part of the Dream Team, Puerto Rican Students Association, and was Speech Captain for the Cornell Speech and Debate Society her sophomore and junior years. She was born in Guatemala City and grew up in Jupiter, Florida.
