La Manplesa: an uprising remembered
Friday, April 21st @ 6:00pm - Latino Living Center lounge
Join ACaU as we welcome La Manplesa Organization for an empowering poetry workshop that revolves around the 1991 Mt Pleasant Protests! With members and organizers of the mass movement, these leaders will offer perspectives on urbanization, and police brutality revolving around the DC area. However, their lessons and conversation will provide an uplifting message to communities of all backgrounds maintaining their identity in a time of such pessimism and polarization!
ACaU is excited to announce this event to be held at the Latino Living Center, under the guidance of the Café con Leche Series. Echoing our reflection on principles, we are also working alongside the American Studies Department and the International Student Union in a coalesced effort to reach college students of all backgrounds and cultures
