We are excited to introduce “ALMA", (Aprendizaje, Liderazgo, Motivación y Autoestima), a new initiative under Latinx Student Empowerment. This initiative is comprised of a 10 – student board to enhance and provide additional support. The board currently is comprised of two co-chairs, vice-chair, treasurer, communications, and members- at-large.
Meeting every two weeks, The Director of Latinx Student Empowerment and 10 student leaders began working on developing this initiative in the Fall of 2023. During this time the student leaders established the structure for how the board will function to better support the members of our community.

Originally known as the Latina Empowerment Initiative, the board has been officially named “ALMA” to better reflect the ideals and support they wish to promote. The Latinx Student Empowerment recently received a grant from the President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) to support ALMA for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year.
ALMA is excited to develop more support and community engagement opportunities for our community at Cornell University.
