Congratulations to the Latina/o Studies 2018 graduates

Congratulations to the Latina/o Studies undergraduate and graduate minors and graduates of the class of 2018!

On Friday, May 25, 2018 Latina/o Studies and the Latina/o/x Student Success Office celebrated with families, students, faculty and staff the accomplishments of 20 undergraduate and 3 graduate minors and graduates of the class of 2018.

LSP allowed me to meet and get to know scholars of all levels, from undergraduates to professors. I appreciated the flexibility of the minor, which allowed me to receive a multidisciplinary education. Ultimately, this made me a better scholar. - Alberto Milian Ph.D. '18

This year's senior award, nominated by faculty, was shared by Vanessa Chicas and Kevin Cruz for outstanding work in the Latina/o Studies undergraduate minor, community engagement and academic achievements.

To our graduates: we are immensely proud that you have reached this significant benchmark in your life, celebrate your achievements, and wish you the very best. You have been the heart and soul of the Latina/o Studies Program. As we send you on your way, we encourage you to keep in touch and come back to visit. You are now part of the Latina/o Studies history and tradition at Cornell University.

of the Latina/o Studies senior award.

The LSP minor has allowed me to take a break from chemistry to learn about Latino migration and the systemic issues that affect minorities on the path to higher education. LSP courses have been the most eye-opening and meaningful classes I have taken as they have enabled me to read and write about the histories of Mexicans and Chicanxs. When I leave Cornell, I will remember the support I received from faculty that put me on the path to becoming a research professor. - Jazmín Aguilar-Romero '18
