Latinx community welcomes Jo-Ana Rivera

The Latina/o Studies Program, Latino Living Center and the Latinx community at Cornell University welcomes Jo-Ana Rivera as the Residence Hall Director of the Latino Living Center. Jo-Ana graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English with minors in geology and Italian. She worked within non-profit spaces in the Bronx supporting elementary students before teaching middle school science in her hometown of Providence, RI.

Most recently, Jo-Ana graduated with a Master's of Higher Education from the University of Michigan. She came to residence life after working in the Multi-ethnic Student Affairs office and Career Services at the University of Michigan and Pre-College Programs at Brown University.

In her free time Jo-Ana enjoys going to pilates, drinking coffee, and spending time with her family and friends. She is excited to begin working with and supporting the LLC, the Latinx community, and campus partners.

The Latino Living Center, founded in 1994, houses fifty-five residents who represent a variety of heritages and backgrounds. All have a common interest in the Latinx community, as demonstrated by events like the Café con Leche series, Bienvenidos BBQ, and the Latinx Unity Dinner.

We look forward to her transition to the LLC and Cornell and we extend a warm welcome from the Latinx community at Cornell. Jo-Ana can be reached via email at jr2536@cornell.edu.
