María Cristina García, Howard A. Newman Professor of American Studies, Department of History and Latino Studies Program, Cornell University writes and teaches about refugees, immigrants, and exiles. She is the author of Havana USA: Cuban Exiles and Cuban Americans in South Florida and Seeking Refuge: Central American Migration to Mexico, the United States, and Canada, both published by the University of California Press. Her new book, Refuge in Post-Cold War America, will be published by Oxford University Press later this year. She is currently completing a book on the environmental origins of refugee migrations.
