During this fall semester, I will be interim director of the program, standing in for Professor Maria Cristina Garcia, who will return to lead LSP this Spring. My own departmental home is Comparative Literature, and my research and teaching focus on literature, culture, and performance in the Americas. I also have a strong interest in working with our local Tompkins County community, as well as with international collaborators in Latin American and elsewhere. I would be delighted to chat with you about some of our projects, about my courses, as well as about the courses offered by our fabulous LSP colleagues.
As always, we look forward to welcoming you to fourth floor Rockefeller, where you can meet with each other and some of your professors, enjoy our Fridays with Faculty and Fridays with Alumni series, read books, or take advantage of the computer lab. This year we will also have the benefit of welcoming Cornell double alum and visiting scholar Evelyn Ambriz, who studies mentoring practices and will surely want to speak to you about your experiences, and will have the privilege of frequent visits by the Cornell Latino Alumni Association (CLAA) President Kety Esquivel, who looks forward to speaking with you about how the alumni association can support you on your academic journey and beyond.
