A STATEMENT FROM CORNELL LATINO ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (CLAA) in light of recent events.
Twenty-three years after the Day Hall takeover and the student movement which led to the creation of the Latino Studies Program, we the board of the Cornell Latino Alumni Association at Cornell have been made aware that some of you are feeling isolated and uncertain of you future in light of recent events. As Hispanic and Latino/a alumni, we want you to know that we stand with you.
We remain strongly committed to you, our undergraduate and graduate students as well as the values of diversity and inclusion that were so important to us during our years at Cornell and which continue to be the beacon that guides us as a board. The CLAA Board is behind you and understands your concerns. We fully support you and wish to encourage our government institutions to embrace diversity and our sacred constitutional rights of speech and assembly.
In the coming weeks and months, the board of CLAA will be working on concrete ways to support these words. We are committed to being there for you, our students, the Latino/a Studies Program staff and faculty and the Latino Living Center.
You are not alone. We are with you.
