Volunteer Raymond Ortiz II ’04, MPA ’06: things can always get better

The Alumni Affairs and Development's Alumni Profile features Raymond Ortiz II ’04, MPA ’06 as it explores what he learned during his volunteer experiences at Cornell.

Ortiz' message for upperclassmen regarding community involvement while at Cornell is that "...there’s no time like the present. It’s important for them to understand that there’s a pathway for them that they can get immediately involved with their class and other alumni activities."

Ortiz also reaches out to alumni and why they should be engaged with the university: "My advice for more senior alumni is that Cornell was a home for you once, and it’s always going to be home for you. Being a resource for young students who are also going through their own issues, their own struggles, their own traumas—it’s a lot of pressure, it’s a lot of expectations. It’s good to be able to have alumni like us come back into the fold."
